Hill chronicle
The first competition on Bergisel was held in 1927, and Heinrich Mayerl jumped furthest then – 47,5 metra.
A year later the tower was built. Norway's Alf Andersen scored a perfect score 63 meters, thus set a new hill record.
Before the World Cup in 1933 the ski jump underwent a thorough modernization. Its structure has been completely changed. Thanks to this, the Norwegian Birger Ruud improved her record, reaching 74 meters.
On the occasion of the Youth Football Championship in 1941 two teams visited the collapsing structure and the lying tower. As a result of the accident, four players died, and several were injured.
After World War II the ski jump was restored to its original appearance. For the Olympics in 1964 the hill was adapted to the new requirements.
W 1976 next year, another modification was needed for the next Olympics. In just four months, the inrun was rebuilt and enlarged, and a concrete structure was erected, on which he could rely.
W 1985 World Cup was held here.
In the following years the profile of the hill was adapted to the new requirements.
After the 4-Hills-Tournament in the season 2000/2001 In 2000 the ski jumping hill was demolished and already at the beginning of the year work on the most modern facility of this type in the world began. Changes were necessary, because already in 2001 year FIS looked at the Austrian arena through its fingers and exceptionally got permission to hold the competition.
At the moment, the object has a point K on 120 subway and you can safely get distances above 130 m.
