Bridge - Conventions Bridge - Bergen.
Bridge bidding convention developed by the American expert Marti Bergen based on the Law of Connective Levs.
The main assumption of the convention is to differentiate the elevations of the older color depending on the number of assets held, the answers are as follows:
– two in the color of the opening is constructive (7-10PH) raise with a three-card fit,
– three in the opening color are interlocking (0-6PH) raise with a four-card fit,
– 3♣ it will lift with a four-card fit and strength of 6-9PH,
– 3♦ promises a four-card fit and a strength of 10-12PH,
– 3 in the second suit, the older one is a systemic hand with a four-card fit and a shortness in the side suit – opener can ask for shortness with a relay type.
Bergen is complemented by Forcing BA, which can be given with a force of 10-12PH and a three card fit.
Some couples using this convention have changed the meaning of the 3 ♣ and bids 3♦.
