Many valuable monuments of architecture and art testify to the enormous importance and role of these lands in the past. The current border, running along the Odra and Nysa Łużycka rivers, once and for all it defines the location of these lands and their inseparable connection with Poland.
Therefore, while sailing the Oder, you should pay attention to both historical souvenirs, as well as on a weekday in this region, a rapidly growing industry, bustling villages and towns, new residential districts.
Left tributaries of the Odra River:
The Nysa Kłodzka River - a difficult route, for trained, quite bothersome. Trail length 76 km, journey time 3–5 days. Mountain river, there are many obstacles in the riverbed. The edges are regulated over a considerable space. The trail is attractive not only for landscape reasons, but also because of the neighboring villages rich in monuments. Lots of good camping spots.
The Bóbr River - a very difficult route, burdensome, trail length 222 km, journey time 10-14 days. The Bóbr is a picturesque river and is one of the most beautiful rivers in Poland. The upper and middle reaches are characterized by the features of a mountain river. Fast current, rocky bottom.
A specific feature of the trail are beautiful, the banks overgrown with countless old oaks. On the trail we meet many monuments and places of historical importance. The problem is the large number of weirs.
The right tributaries of the Odra River:
The Barycz River - the trail is quite arduous, trail length 99 km, journey time 4-7 days. Barycz is a typically lowland river. For many kilometers it flows in the border of flood protection embankments. There are huge amounts of various waterfowl in the area. The obstacles encountered on the trail are locks, bridges, footbridges.
Enough camping places. The trail is suitable for rafting in smaller groups.
The Warta River - easy route, for beginners, unobtrusive. Trail length 733 km, journey time 25-30 days. The Warta is a lowland river. It is a beautiful trail with great landscape values. Towns of historical importance, reserves, Wielkopolski National Park, few obstacles, many good camping sites make this long and picturesque trail attractive.
The Noteć River - an easy route, for beginners, trail length 352 km, journey time 14-20 days. A typical lowland river. Partitioned at certain sections by locks, it is characterized by a very weak current. In its upper reaches, it flows through a series of picturesque lakes. In the lands here, being the cradle of the Polish state, we meet many valuable historical monuments. Lots of convenient camping spots in the upper section, in the lower one much less. The water is not suitable for consumption even after boiling.
The Drawa River - a tributary of the Noteć River. Beginner's trail, quite bothersome, trail length 194 km, journey time 10-14 days. One of the most beautiful water routes in Poland. In the upper reaches, it flows through the picturesque, there are lakes among forests. The forest accompanies the river almost along its entire length. Lots of natural obstacles in many sections (tree trunks, branches, boulders). Lots of good camping spots.
The Czarna Hańcza River - a tributary of the Nemunas. The trail is upstream (to Lake Wigry) hard, the difficulties continue to diminish. The length of the route from Lake Wigry to the Augustów Canal 51 km. Journey time 4–6 days. 0 There are legends about the charms of Hańcza. It is an exceptionally beautiful trail. Top section, from Suwałki to Lake Wigry, has the characteristics of a mountain river, from Lake Wigry to the Augustów Canal, it becomes a lowland river. The section running through the Augustów Primeval Forest is one of the most beautiful forest water routes. The fast current does not require rowing and allows you to freely contemplate the beauties of nature. A large number of convenient camping places, clean water, possibility of swimming and sunbathing.
It is impossible to list and describe here, even briefly, all water routes in Poland. In addition to river routes, approx. 10 thousand. lakes of all sizes, shape and navigational difficulties. Various types of rivers should be considered for the complete picture, channels, watercourses not mentioned in the kayak guides, but suitable for canoeing and having its followers.
