FORMS OF CULTIVATING KAYAK TOURISM

The management should take into account some fitness deficiencies and fatigue in the first days of the kayaking trip and plan the first and second stages shorter than normal (Daily sections depend on the selection of camping sites). There should also be a one-day rest after 3-4 stages. It should be devoted to trips and sightseeing, as well as minor repairs of equipment and provisioning of participants. After settling all organizational and preparatory matters, we proceed to prepare the vessels for the water journey. If baggage is not transported by road (quite often used in mass events), we proceed to locate our equipment in the kayak, bearing in mind:

1) kayak (especially the folder) we load on water,

2) if it is necessary to load it on the shore, we carry the canoe on the straps,

3) we burden the bow part of the vessel with personal clothes, a sleeping bag, blankets,

4) the stern of the canoe - kitchen equipment, food, a tent etc.,

5) port side - personal belongings in waterproof panniers, guide, toiletries, apparatus, watch,

6) starboard - sail, raincoat, jersey, mannerka, map holder with a route outline,

7) the kayak must be evenly loaded, Attach the panniers and bags with a rope,

8) we put all the little things in waterproof panniers,

9) luggage should take as little space next to us as possible, so as not to restrict your movements,

10) the canoe must not be overloaded,

11) the rescue equipment is placed on the kayak in an easily accessible place.

After placing our equipment, we take a place in the kayak, remembering the principle, that the crew gets in first, and then the helmsman. We leave the shore at a given sign and follow the directions of the group leader in a set formation. (Pilot, then groups, starting with the weakest, sanitary and rescue service. In the case of a larger number of rescuers or designated security service units - they flow between groups. The group is closed by the kayak trip manager.) Pilot, manager-commander, security and sanitation should be marked with a pennant or a flag. Distance between teams-groups (2—3 canoes) 15—20 m, in more difficult sections it should be 60-80 m, or teams should flow in track formation. During the trip, we always keep an eye on the designated group, not overtaking the pilot and trying to stay in the designated place. The exception is: trolley, loss of strength or kayak failure - we are obliged to come to the rescue immediately.

Rest when reaching the shore, is it dinnerware, or evening, we are bound by the principle of landing in good order, to avoid grouping, because it is easy to overturn or damage the floating equipment. After reaching the shore, secure the canoe with a mooring line and after relieving it (unloading luggage) we bring it ashore. We arrive at the evening camp 2-3 hours before sunset, we unpack the kayak by taking the luggage to the designated or sophisticated camping site, and then, after washing the unit, take it ashore.

The management is obliged to provide a convenient camping place, inspect the parking place in advance, as well as notify GRN and the nearest GS about the date of our arrival, at least on 10 days ahead of schedule. The Quartermaster should remember, that the bivouac is located in a quite spacious place, dry, picturesque, o the available edge, nice beach, clean, shallow water. The management watches over the entire time of the trip, so that the event goes as planned and is conducted in such a way, so that the stages are not tiring, and the evening tables are varied. After the trip is over, the management ensures that participation cards are issued, rail discounts, commemorative stamps and order when loading equipment for transport and at departure of participants. The duties of the management also include checking the equipment when collecting the rented equipment from participants, whether it is properly cleaned of dirt, sand and whether it is dry.

We check it before packing and loading the equipment, Whether:

- a tent, backpack, bags - they are thoroughly cleaned and dried,

- folder - cleaned, dried and properly tied,

- kitchen utensils and stove - cleaned,

- mattresses and sleeping bags - dry and clean.

We pack proven equipment and send it carefully secured for transport (railway or car luggage). In the event of a rush or when the weather does not allow for a proper inspection and drying of the equipment, we do this immediately upon our return. We disassemble the equipment in the place of residence, cleaning and drying it, protecting against destruction.

The organizers make a summary after the event, through:

a) submitting a descriptive report, taking into account the statistical data according to the report template approved by PTTK

b) detailed financial settlement (listing all receipts and expenses)

c) settlement of the collected floating and camping equipment

When submitting the report, comments on the runoff should be given, organization, the work of the management and any observations about the event, to avoid shortcomings and mistakes in future excursions.

If there was a chronicler or photo amateur in our group, it is worth presenting the most interesting experiences and events in the form of a photo magazine at the workplace, and provide a detailed description of the event to the local or national press.
