Heinz Kutin “A good coach of the B team was a prerequisite”

Heinz Kutin: “A good coach of the B team was a prerequisite”.

Almost two months ago, Austrian Heinz Kuttin became the coach of the first Polish national team.
After a year of working with the B team, Kuttin took over the inheritance from Apoloniusz Tajner in April. Now all the looks (and expectations) in Poland are aimed at an excellent former ski jumper.

ss.com: What is Heinz Kuttin's goal at the beginning of his work with the Polish team??

Heinz Kutin: “The real goal is definitely the Olympic Games in Turin 2006 year. This is the goal of our work. Of course we do, for Adam Małysz to finish in the top five in the World Cup next season and to defend both world championship titles in Oberstdorf. But we also want a competitive team”.

ss.com: Isn't there such a problem, that world-class jumper, Adam Malysz, needs more attention from the coach than the rest of the team, to stay at such a high level, which he has been presenting for years?

Heinz Kutin: “NO, basically it's the other way around. The better a player jumps, then he needs less attention and support from the trainer. The worse it jumps, then we care even more.
In case of, when it lasts for a long time, then he goes to the B team and is replaced by another”.
——————————————–
ss.com: Meaning, that, for example, Marcin Bachleda needs more attention from the coach than Adam Małysz?

Heinz Kutin: “When Adam is in great shape as he is now, everything is fine. However, Adam is now testing different equipment, so in this phase it naturally holds our heightened attention.
In two weeks, Adam should choose the equipment, where he will compete in the Summer-Grand-Prix. He must be three to four weeks before the competition, to get used to the new equipment. Yes, it's best.
——————————————–
ss.com: So what about the tests? Will Adam Małysz compete next season on Elan or Fischer skis??

Heinz Kutin: “It's not fixed yet. We haven't jumped on a large hill on these skis yet. In any case, it will be Adam's decision, which brand to choose. It is important to, that he now has two first-class products at his disposal.
——————————————–
ss.com: What place do you expect from Adam Małysz in the summer?

Heinz Kutin: “In its current form, it would rank in the top three, I'm sure about this”.
——————————————–
ss.com: How important is the Summer-Grand-Prix?

Heinz Kutin: “In fact, it is training in more difficult conditions, but when you start you want to do well.
And not to forget: these are FIS starting amounts. Who will be at the top this summer?, will score important points and earn starting places in the winter. This makes, that summer is important”.

ss.com: Your great success last season was
without a doubt, Mateusz Rutkowski won the title of junior world champion. We can expect, that it will be in the top ten in the foreseeable future?

Heinz Kutin: “Mateusz undoubtedly has the makings of a regular in the first tens, but now it is in a difficult period. He has to work on himself, Among other things, Mateusz is too heavy.
I am a follower, as majority, new weight regulation, but neither does it grant any unlimited freedom. With a BMI over 22
you have no chance of being among the world's best”.
——————————————–
ss.com: Message, that your colleague Stefan Hormgacher will coach the Polish B team was surprising. How important was this decision for you personally??

Heinz Kutin: “For me, this is the perfect arrangement. I accepted the job of trainer in Poland only on condition, that a professional coach will lead the second team. Optimal care of the B-staff is an elementary thing in our work”.
——————————————–
ss.com: How much influence did you have on Stefan Horngacher's decision??

Heinz Kutin: “I'm sure Steff knew, that he will have optimal working conditions in Poland. We talked often.
And I knew, that he was interested in an engagement abroad”.
——————————————–
ss.com: your predecessor, Apollonius Tajner, was not among the people elected to the European Parliament.
Now he will probably take a job in the Polish Ski Association. It would be helpful for Heinz Kuttin?

Heinz Kutin: “I run trainings at my own risk and do not need any advice, but i would be glad, if Apoloniusz Tajner was active. There is much to do”.
——————————————–
ss.com: Is Heinz Kuttin happy with the conditions today, back office, player performance and motivation, etc.?

Heinz Kutin: “Looking positively, I rate it at between six
and seven. This is a great piece of work, but in october i want to get to nine. We have to achieve it”.

Kuttin with no response, even for a fraction of a second, left no doubt, that he wants to succeed and is convinced, that he will succeed.
The first weeks of the new job were a bit of a disappointment, but Kuttin is ready, to follow your path of success.
It will be expensive, which he often had to overcome.

The new position is a great challenge not only for Coach Kuttin, but especially for the warrior Kuttin. The Austrian has confirmed many times in the past, that he won't rest until he reaches his goal.
