Michael Uhrmann: policeman, specialty – ski jumping

Michael Uhrmann: policeman, specialty – ski jumping.

The German competitors did not impress with the results achieved during the Summer Grand Prix 2002.
Without Martin Schmitt and Sven Hannawald, they took only two places in the top ten.
one of those, from which the spectators and probably also the coaches expected more, was a team Olympic champion from Slat Lake City, Michael Uhrmann from the club WSV Rastbüchl.
A glance behind the scenes, however, it puts Michael Uhrmann's results in a completely different light.
Uhrmann, which ended last week 24 lata, sums up the summer season 2002 and talks about the reasons for the poor performance:

Though I wasn't really expecting much, my results, especially those from Hinterzarten and Courchevel, they have been very disappointing.
The competition in Innsbruck was a consolation for me. Not necessarily because of the result (16. place), but that's why, that my jumps were
technically quite good.
But as I said, I didn't have any high expectations, because I had no time to train.
If from 7:00 do 15:30 sitting at school, then he is very weak”.

Uhrmann is currently finishing school, which will give him the training of a guard of the Federal Border Protection Troops.
The written part of the German passed a week before the competition in Innsbruck, and next week he has a final test, oral exam.
“The whole thing lasted four years. I have been trying to get this education for four years. In the last year instead of four months, so
as in previous years, I had to spend six to study. I was only able to train in the summer then, when it was necessary.”

A double load is not easy for a jumper to bear.
Uhrmann, however, has taken care of securing his future in the last four years, when he's done jumping.

“Now I have reached really optimal conditions for the future. For the first time I can concentrate solely on ski jumping. I don't have to worry about time after my career ends.”
Uhrmann has the same urge to jump, like before getting an education:
” if everything goes well, i want to jump so long, like Duffy.
(Christof Duffi Duffner will finish in December 31 lat)
But when will I stop jumping, I'll think about what to do.
I have a job guaranteed, but I could also study and improve my qualifications. We'll see.
In any case, but now I have such good conditions for training, like never before. Last season I also had to deal with injuries, and now it looks very good.
I will be attending all courses from now on, trainings
and team camps, because I will have plenty of time.
For the first time I can really train professionally.”

“In winter, everything will look completely different”
“I consider the criticism towards the team after the results of the Summer Grand Prix to be deserved” Uhrmann says.
“Naturally, the results speak for themselves, but if in another
two teams would be missing, top players it wouldn't look much better.
Whether, if we look at the results from last year, the results of the German players were not impressive, also those of Martin Schmitt and Sven Hannawald.

“If Schmitt and Hannawald don't start, I feel really more pressure on myself” Uhrmann continues. “But in winter it will look completely different.”

So now a new chapter in the Uhrmann era begins.
however this, what the German has achieved so far in ski jumping, doesn't look bad at all.
He already has, among others,. Olympic champion titles (team) and world champion (team).
But only the season 2003/2004 should be this, in which Uhrmann will show what he is really capable of.
With good results, the jumper from Rastbüchel will be able to redeem himself for poor results in the Summer Grand Prix.
He is now starting professional preparations for the winter.
