The history of the hill
1947
the hill, which was originally to be called the High King's Ski Jump was built in 1947. It's right there 27.02.1949 The German Rudi Gehring jumped evenly 100 meters, which was a hill record at the time and held for many years.
In the following years, the building was constantly modernized, e.g. already in 1950 a wooden driveway structure was erected.
In year 1952 On the feast of the Three Kings, a tragic accident took place. During training, one of the Polish jumpers landed badly and suffered very serious injuries. Unfortunately, he died in the hospital three days later.
It was decided, that the hill will be renamed in his honor and bear his name.
1953
… a wooden judge's tower was built, and ten years later the wooden ramp structure was replaced by a modern one made of concrete.
1972
… a new jury tower was erected, this time made of steel and concrete.
1982
.. changed the incline of the take-off run to 37 degrees and the approach was shortened by 5 meters.
After a few years, the previously natural inrun was placed on a wooden and steel structure and the slope was lowered to 27 degrees.
1991
… thanks to subsequent modernization, the hill already met all the FIS requirements. Point K is set on the boundary 120 meters.
For several dozen years, one of the most modern ski jumping hills in the world was built from a natural object.
Before the World Championships in Ramsau, steel structures for cameras and a press center were added.
2003
… in the summer the hill was modernized again and adapted to current standards.
