Types of skis
There are many types of skis these days. It's really hard to choose something for yourself. I will try to list a few types of skis, where we can play in the snow, because skiing is a beautiful winter sport.
Race:
- For people who like fast skiing on properly prepared slopes. They also do well in amateur competitions.
- They are of great weight, stability even on icy and difficult slopes.
- They require excellent technique and ski edge skiing skills.
- A lot of effort is needed
- There are two types: slalom (low turning radius, so we can make quick turns), gigantic (larger turning radius, maintain better stability when turning).
All-round:
- The most popular and most often chosen.
- They are the most universal.
- They do not require a lot of effort.
- They are quite manoeuvrable and allow safe driving.
All Mountain:
- Medium width skis.
- They do well on and off the slopes in deep snow.
- They have good buoyancy and handle well, they are twisted.
Easycarver:
- Ski for beginners.
- They are relatively light and turn well.
- However, they do not reach high speeds.
Cross
- Similar to the Race nart toupe, but they are easier to drive.
- They require less effort than those from the Race group.
- Stable and controlled, They can be used both on and off-road.
Freeride:
- Great for off-piste riding, they have a great width, so they don't get stuck in the snow.
- Twintip Backcountry:
- Freeride variety, which has raised backs of the skis, which allows you to go backwards and forwards.
- Works well when jumping.
Freestyle:
- The front and back of the ski are bent upwards, which allows you to drive forwards and backwards.
- They are great for performing tricks and acrobatics.
- Short and light.
Ski-touring:
- Light, good for going up hills.
- They have special tapes, which are hooked along the entire length of the slides. The ascent is much easier, because the skis do not slide off.
- Bindings with a moving loop.
Short Ski:
- Short skis not more than a meter long.
- You can tell about them, They are a combination of skis and snowboards.
Telemark:
- Bindings with a movable heel, which allows you to ride in an additional position.
- Elastic, and durable board.
Women's skis:
- Specific appearance, the binding is mounted more to the front of the ski, which makes it easier to turn.
- They are made for different types of skis.
Youth skis:
- Shorter and lighter than equivalents for older people.
- Produced for various types of skis.
If you have any other types, that I did not mention, let me know in the comment. I invite you to the slopes and to ride. Let's hope, that the conditions this year will allow you to play in the snow.
