Interview with Andi Widhölzel (AUT)
Andi Widhoelzl was a guest of the editorial office during the World Cup competition in Neustadt:
Andi, how did you like the organization of the event on the occasion of awarding Neustadt with the organization of the World Cup?
Class, there was a very good atmosphere, and a canteen for jumpers upstairs, over the inrun, it's natural, great thing.
Your results in the first competition in Neustadt were good. Are you satisfied?
Actually yes. The only problem I had today was with the wet inrun. Some people handle it better, others worse.
I rather don't like it.
Is the Hochfirst ski jump to your taste?
On such a hill, players, who are in the first places jump extremely close to each other. One to two meters can make all the difference 3 the 16 place. But in general they are good jumps.
What are your results according to you? You made a good start in Kuopio.
So, I'm really happy, although after the summer Grand Prix training was hard. I wouldn't be surprised if the results got even better.
What do you mean?
I was in incredibly good shape at the last training sessions. I trained regularly, but summer and winter are two different worlds.
Toni Innauer said, that you are a potential candidate
in place of Małysz or Schmitt. What is your attitude to this statement?
So, I know it myself. Two years ago when I won the 4-Hills-Tournament I could show, I can stay fit all winter.
At the World Championships in Lahti, as you know there was a conflict between you, and the current coach, Tonim Innaurem. Is it the past?
Clearly, that yes. It's last year's snow.
The Austrian team on the hills is still tight-knit.
The mood in the frame is still good, Whether…?
So, of course. No problems.
What are your expectations for this winter? Does the start in Kuopio clearly predict Andreas Widhoelzl as the winner of this winter?
New equipment and skis are tested regularly before each winter.
For me, such changes mean a longer preparation period. But this winter it is, that I can start on tried-and-tested skis. This is very handy for me.
Is Ski Blizzard, on which you've been jumping for years
they suit you best?
Exactly, I made my first jump on a needle on these skis. They suit me very well.
Can we expect such a Widhoelzl this winter, who won the 4-Hills-Tournament two years ago?
So.
